IDHS Pandemic EBT Program IDHS

Illinois State Board of Education is working with the Illinois Department of Human Services to implement a Pandemic​ EBT program that may provide extra funding to families who have children who qualify for free or reduced-priced meals.  Some district families’ circumstances may have changed since the COVID-19 crisis began, so we want to ensure that all our families are accurately accounted for and included.

Statewide Resources and Supports for Families Illinois

The State of Illinois has a number of programs providing resources and supports for families during the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Supports and resources cover many areas including:  food security, finance, social services, medical/health condition specific, childcare, and education/learning.  

Free Child Meals Continue During School Shutdown seamless

Free breakfast and lunch meals (with milk) will be provided to ALL CHILDREN 0-18 years of age in our area under a “Grab and Go” program at all Burbank School District 111 K-6 school buildings.  Meals should be requested for only the children living in your own household and are limited to one pick up per day.   

*** No Meals Available on Friday, April 10 due to Good Friday Holiday.  Doubles will be distributed on Thursday, April 9. ***

Virtual Multicultural Night multiculture

We were planning our Burbank School District 111 Annual Multicultural Night event for Thursday April 16, 2020. Let's not let our “Stay At Home” COVID19 prevention efforts stop us from celebrating who we are!  On April 16 we hope you and your families take time to celebrate your heritage, your traditions and your culture.  You can celebrate by preparing a traditional dish or meal, wearing your cultural clothes, singing a traditional song, performing a traditional dance, or creating a piece of cultural art. You could do all these things or pick just one, but be sure to take a video or photo of however you decide to celebrate your heritage!  Our Multicultural Night event can still happen by sharing your celebratory photos and videos on Twitter or Facebook!  Be sure to include the following hashtag: #111proudofwhoweare in all your posts!  BSD111 is PROUD OF WHO WE ARE!

Calling all Burbank School District 111 Artists!  Our Art Exhibition was planned for April 29, 2020..... THE SHOW MUST GO ON!  We are asking for artwork that represents all the creative things you are doing during the shelter in place situation.  Click here for more information on how and when to submit your artwork.  Remember to use hashtag #111heARTathome when posting your art on Facebook and Twitter!

4/5/20 Update - District 111 Remote Learning Begins April 8 update

With all of the uncertainty in the world right now, we want to do our part to be as consistent and available for your children as much as possible. Although there has been much change to the way we all manage and interact in our daily life, the one thing that has not changed is our dedication to your children. Per Governor Pritzker’s orders, schools will remain closed until April 30, 2020.   Effective Wednesday, April 8 we will begin Remote Learning, a new chapter in public education

Prairie Trails Library Offers Digital Library Cards prairie trails

Prairie Trails Library is offering digital library cards to residents of Burbank and Nottingham Park, which will provide access to digital materials while the library is closed.  Parents/Guardians can sign up easily on the website at www.prairietrailslibrary.org.  Prairie Trails has also unblocked cards with fines and will be extending expiration dates on existing cards during the shutdown.  

Let’s Make It Count: Census 2020 census

Starting on March 12, the Census Bureau will mail out census forms to every household in the country. The census, required by our constitution and conducted every 10 years, is a count of every individual living in the United States.

Free Wi-Fi wi-fi

Completely Free Wi-Fi (With No Installation):  The FCC's Keep Americans Connected pledge challenges ISPs and mobile carriers to not shut off service for 60 days due to nonpayment, and to open their local Wi-Fi hotspots to free access. A huge number of ISPs have signed on.

St. Baldrick's Fundraiser Update baldrick logo

On Thursday March 12, Governor Pritzker requested that all non-essential events and activities at all Illinois schools be  cancelled through May 1. Unfortunately, this includes our St. Baldrick's event scheduled for March 18.  As of today, all your fundraising efforts have totaled approximately $22,000.00 and has been sent to St. Baldrick's Foundation.  Please visit the St. Baldrick's event webpage to see all your accomplishments in helping Kids With Cancer!  We really wish we could be there to see everyone GO BALD, but due to the social distancing directives we are not able to provide the public event.
