Message from the Superintendent 10/23/20

We are currently reviewing the learning environment selections for our students and working on the plan for our return to in-person instruction.  The teachers and staff are looking forward to having students in the buildings once again, even if it’s just a few half-days a week. Please keep in mind, we are continuously monitoring the COVID-19 positivity rates in Burbank and our surrounding area and communicating with the Stickney Township Public Health Department on a frequent basis.

We are truly saddened to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Mrs. Lisa Keysboe, teacher at Kennedy School.  She touched the lives of many students, parents, and staff members during her 26 years with District 111.  Our deepest sympathies go out to the Keysboe Family during this difficult time.

Message from the Superintendent - Return to In-Person (Hybrid) Learning (10/14/20)

We are currently in the process of putting together a plan that brings our students back for in-person learning beginning sometime in early November.   We’ve been in collaboration with Reavis High School, Stickney Public Health District, and our Teachers’ Union to finalize plans.  The actual date of return will be determined once we have updated data on the number of students returning to hybrid in-person instruction.

Stickney Public Health Offers Flu Vaccines

Stickney Public Health District is offering free flu vaccines to children 18 & under at all SPHD clinic sites.  Adult flu vaccines are available for $20.  Click here for more information.  

2020-21 School Calendar - Revised

The State of Illinois has declared the General Election Day a state holiday.  Therefore, the 2020-21 School Calendar has been revised as follows: 

  • November 3, 2020 - No School - Election Day
  • December 23, 2020 - Half Day Inservice
Board Briefs - September BOE Meeting

The regular meeting of the Board of Education was held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.  Click here for a brief summary of the meeting.

Registration Fee Deadline Extended

Due to COVID-19, the district has extended the deadline for student registration fees until after winter break. Payments can be submitted to the school office or online via E-pay.  Late fees will not be incurred until January 7, 2021. 

2021 School Board Election

Burbank School District 111 will have four school board seats to be filled at the April 6, 2021 Consolidated Election.  Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2025.

Free Child Meals 7 Days a Week

FREE CHILD MEALS 7 DAYS A WEEK THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2020. Free breakfast and lunch meals (with milk) will be provided to ALL CHILDREN 0-18 years of age in our area under a “Grab and Go” program at all Burbank School District 111 school buildings Monday through Friday during the times listed on the schedule below.  Meals for Saturday and Sunday will be distributed on Fridays.  This program covers ALL students from all District 111 schools as well as all parochial, private, and high schools in the area. There are no financial requirements to receive a meal; all children are eligible.  Meals should be requested for only the children living in your own household and are limited to one pick up per day.
