Dear Burbank SD 111 Families,
We are currently in the process of putting together a plan that brings our students back for in-person learning beginning sometime in early November. We’ve been in collaboration with Reavis High School, Stickney Public Health District, and our Teachers’ Union to finalize plans. The actual date of return will be determined once we have updated data on the number of students returning to hybrid in-person instruction.
We understand that our families may have a different preference than what was originally selected over the summer, so we are asking our families to indicate their selection again of in-person (hybrid) or remote learning for each child for the remainder of the school year (last day is June 4, 2021). Please make your choice by using the selection form below by Friday, October 16.
Learning Environment Selection Forms:
While the details of the plan are dependent upon the selection results, we will be maintaining much of the original re-opening of schools plan shared in August. Students will still be attending for only half a day. The afternoon will still consist of remote learning for all. Other aspects of the plan are uncertain until we get the data back, but may involve reassigning students into new classrooms (remote/in-person) and assigning teachers to new grades/subjects. Also, please keep in mind that a return to in-person learning is dependent upon COVID-19 positivity rates and mitigation guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health and our local health departments.
Please also be reminded that students must have the required physical examination and immunizations on file with the school office. If your child still needs an exam or vaccinations, be sure to schedule your doctor’s appointment now.
We are looking forward to having our kids back in school with us soon!
Dr. Franzy Fleck
